Trees crashed to the ground and cars were left stranded after heavy snow fall last night - many drivers may still be unable to get their vehicles home.
Walderslade Woods Road, in Walderslade, and neighbouring Robin Hood Lane and Boxley Road remain closed today after the trees fell.
There are 18 tree surgeons on the road, clearing around 100 trees that are piling up across the road.
Kent County Council say the road should be passable later this afternoon however a few trees are continuing to fall whilst the work is carried out which may delay this.
Police and fire crews were on the scene at just before 8pm last night.
Chatham fire crews said they had to help an overturned car and one that was stuck under a fallen tree.
No injuries have been reported.
Cars were stuck on the road and drivers were stranded.
In a tweet Kent County Council confirmed the road was closed overnight and tree surgeons are on the site, removing the be removing the branches.
However, the council said drivers may not be able to access their abandoned vehicles this morning due to ongoing risk of falling trees.
Resident Paul Burch, who was scene this morning, said: "There are a hell of a lot of trees down - I would say around 100.
"The road conditions are actually improving now; Tunbury Avenue is now drivable, part of the unclosed Walderslade Woods Road is drivable and Bluebell Hill is back open.
"But are still a lot of branches scattered all over the place."
Highways officers are at the scene and the road is expected to be closed all weekend.
The local roads outside of the closure remain passable with caution. Access to Robin Hood Lane can be gained from the M2 junction and the Bridgewood Roundabout.
Updates as we get them.
