Chatham boss Kevin Watson has refused to rule out a play-off push, but has admitted it is a distant target.

Three wins and a draw in the last four games have seen Chatham return to form and move to within eight points of the final play-off place in Ryman League, Division 1 North.

Watson, pictured, takes his team to mid-table Thamesmead on Tuesday, but is refusing to put any pressure on his players.

He said: "It’s so close. The top four teams or so are looking healthy but it’s quite open for the next 10 teams or so.

"Any team from sixth down to 16th would have exactly the same thoughts and I’m sure someone in that pack will put a run together. It’s good to be part of it and in a position where we can be one of those teams.

"We’ve said all along there is no expectation on us. We’re realistic, we don’t expect to win the league or get promoted but we wanted to do well."

Looking ahead to the trip to Bayliss Avenue, Watson admitted: "It’s going to be a tough and it will have a little bit extra spice as well. They are a team similar to us in many ways in that, on their day, they can beat anyone in this league."

Kes Metitri will continue in defence after returning from suspension for the 4-2 win over Soham last Saturday but Jason Barton (hamstring) is doubtful.
