Jhoots Pharmacy in Rainham Shopping Centre reopens in former Boots following repossession notice

A town centre pharmacy is understood to have reopened in a new shop - a week after its original premises were repossessed.
Jhoots Pharmacy, in Rainham Shopping Centre, has relocated to the nearby, former Boots unit which closed down last month along with its small chemist counter.
The precinct was left without a chemist after Jhoots Pharmacy surprisingly closed last Friday (April 19) after a possession notice was spotted outside.
It read: “Under the terms and conditions of your rental agreement or lease, we as acting agents and with the authority of your landlord have entered these demised premises and have served notice and have taken possession.
“No unauthorised persons are permitted entry into these premises and any attempt to do so will result in criminal proceedings being instigated against you.”
A handwritten sign was also placed in the window of Jhoots, which opened in the former Lloyds Pharmacy, saying it would be open on Monday (April 22).
However, patients wanting to collect their prescriptions turned up to find the branch still shut and another notice stuck on the door informing them it would be opening in a new location.
The sign added: “If you are desperate for your meds please see your doctor. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Customers were informed the pharmacy should be reopening in the old Boots unit by the end of the week.
Jhoots Pharmacy has not responded to KentOnline’s requests for more information but it is understood the chemist has been operating out of the store since Wednesday (April 24) and staff are handing out prescriptions.
