TV Presenter and singer Cheryl Baker won £25,000 on a television quiz show – and donated the money to the Medway Messenger’s Charity of The Year.

Cheryl is vice-president of Abigail’s Footsteps, set up by Jo and David Ward after their baby daughter Abigail was stillborn in 2009.

Cheryl, who has supported the charity since 2010, appeared on a Eurovision special of the BBC’s National Lottery programme Who Dares Wins, hosted by Nick Knowles.

The quiz comprises two teams who have to complete a series of lists.

Both must bid on how many items on the list they can name. The team with the most bids, must then name as many as they have bid. If they fall short the other team win.

The first to win two lists plays for £50,000

Cheryl, who won the 1981 Eurovision Contest with Bucks Fizz, was paired with Dana, a fellow winner for Ireland in 1970, and the duo got through to the final round.

In the last question they were asked to name other Eurovision winners and they succeeded, reaching the maximum prize of £50,000, which was split between them.

Dana’s share is going to the Irish Hospice Foundation while the money for Abigail’s Footsteps is to be used towards a new bereavement suite at Medway Maritime Hospital.

Work is hopefully starting later this year.
