16:00, 12 November 2015

Hundreds of people are expected to great The One Show's Matt Baker when he pedals into Chatham tonight on the penultimate stop of this year’s Children in Need challenge.

Matt is cycling a rickshaw from Land’s End to London and will finish in the Elstree Street studios during the live fundraising show on Friday night.

Around 700 people have snapped up wristbands to be in the crowd when he arrives at the Historic Dockyard Chatham tonight.

Joining Matt are six young people who have been supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects.

Their arrival will be broadcast live as part this evening’s The One Show between 7pm and 7.30pm. Crowds will be gathered around HMS Gannet and there will be seasonal food and beverages available to purchase.

Matt has been cycling alongside the team throughout the challenge, while his fellow presenter, Alex Jones, has split time reporting from The One Show studios and on the road with the team.

The team set off on Friday from Cornwall and have worked their way across England in a bid to cross the finish line in time for the BBC Children in Need Appeal Show.

Since 2011, the Rickshaw Challenge has raised more than £7.9 million for BBC Children in Need.

Medway has featured in the BBC’s coverage several times. Last year, young singers at Dickens World joined a choir of 1,685 schoolchildren from right across the UK to sing I’ll Stand By You.
