A man has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a riverside incident.
Police, coastguard, ambulance and firefighters were alerted to reports of a person in distress around 10am.
They were sent to the Esplanade area of Rochester and across the bridge to the Strood side of the Medway.
The man was spoken to and taken to hospital.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman said: “Sheerness RNLI lifeboat, Medway and Sheppey Coastguard Rescue Teams, the coastguard helicopter from Lydd were involved."
A witness told KentOnline that it seemed there was a major incident going on when she walked past the scene.
She said: "I couldn't quite see what was happening, but it was a big response involving all the emergency services.
"They were clearly concerned."
