Christmas has come early for pupils at two schools.
Children at Parkwood Infant and Junior Schools have broken up for Christmas ahead of schedule.
A underground leak has left the schools in Deanwood Drive, Rainham, without heating and water.
The decision was taken today to close today.
A message posted on the schools' websites said: "A significant underground hot water leak has forced the infant and junior schools to take the decision to close for the holidays immediately as heating and water supplies are out of action.
"Please collect your child from their classroom door at the earliest opportunity.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas."
