James Corden has led the tributes to a coach driver from Medway killed in a freak accident.
Mick Ferris, from Hoo, a devoted West Ham fan, was passing by the 27-storey Corniche tower apartments in Vauxhall, south London, when what is thought to be a window pane fell 250ft from the newly built apartments.
The 53-year-old grandfather was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fellow West Ham fan James Corden has paid tribute to Mr Ferris on Twitter.
He posted: "I’m so saddened by the passing of Mick Ferris. He was a huge West Ham fan and has passed away in the most sudden of circumstances. My thoughts are with his family and everyone who knew him. None of us are promised tomorrow. Tell your loved ones you love them today."
Other West Ham supporters have called for the club to observe a minute's silence at their next home game.
One tweeted: "West Ham, would it be possible to dedicate your next match to Mick Ferris? Mick was a lifelong supporter, and his last tweet was a retweet from West Ham".
Eyewitnesses described seeing "glass everywhere" at the scene next to the River Thames.
A spokesperson from Met Police said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 10.42am on Tuesday, October 2 to reports of a man injured in Albert Embankment, SE1.
"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended.
"The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
"At this early stage in the investigation, it is believed he was hit by something falling from a building.
"Officers remain at the scene."
According to his Facebook page Mr Ferris, thought to be from Headstock Rise, worked as a coach driver for Clarkes of London.
He was an avid West Ham fan and one colleague described him "lovely bloke", adding his sudden death was "tragic."
Another colleague told MailOnline the death was 'devastating' and happened just a week before he was due to go on holiday with wife Rachel.
‘It’s unbelievably bad luck for that to happen but Mick was a popular bloke and all of us are devastated,' he said, adding that the coach driver was originally from East London but had moved to Medway.
‘This morning, he’d gone to the cafe under the arches with a colleague and I think he was heading back to the coach when he was hit by a window pane that had come loose from a penthouse in The Corniche building,' he added. ‘It was pretty instantaneous from what I’ve been told. He wouldn’t have known anything about it.
‘His colleague who witnessed it is absolutely beside himself, as you’d expect, and won’t be working for a while. We want to know how something like this could happen in an apartment building worth several million pounds.
‘Mick was due to go on holiday next week to The Maldives with his wife Rachel and some friends. It's so tragic, my heart goes out to his family.’
The firm's parent company National Express issued the following statement: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the victim's family.
"It is not appropriate for us to comment any further while the police investigate this tragedy and speak to the next of kin."
