A man who flashed at train passengers and performed an indecent act - one in front of a child - is being sought by police.

Officers from the British Transport Police want to speak to the man clearly photographed here after incidents on trains through Kent.

Both incidents happened on Monday, July 29.

The first was on a train from Charing Cross to Gillingham, between 7.30pm and 8.05pm that day.

He exposed himself and performed an indecent act in front of a 26-year-old woman between Dartford and Chatham.

He later did the same thing on a different train in front of a woman and her small children between Gillingham and Gravesend.

He was said to stare at the one child, and later followed the family until they fled from the train.

DC Andy Parkinson, from BTP’s Public Protection Unit, said: “In the second incident, the man... boarded a train headed for London at Gillingham station and sat close to a woman and her two young children.

“He went on to expose himself and perform an indecent act whilst staring at one of the children.

"The group, who were understandably shaken up, moved many times, but the man followed the family around the train until the woman and her children ran from the service at Gravesend station.”

Police are keen to speak to other passengers who may have been on the train at the time or who may have seen what happened.

DC Parkinson added: “As part of our investigation we’ve issued CCTV of a man we believe may have information about this incident and are asking for the public’s help to name him. If you think you recognise this man, please contact us.

“It is vitally important that we speak to the man pictured to find out what happened, and I would urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact police immediately.”
