A Medway councillor has been selected to fight a seat in Merseyside for Labour at the General Election.
Cllr Bill Esterson (pictured) was selected at the weekend to stand in the new Sefton Central constituency ahead of two popular local politicians.
The River ward councillor is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Claire Curtis-Thomas. She won the former Crosby seat with a 5,840 majority in 1997 but announced last year she planned to stand down.
