A couple were tied up and threatened during a robbery at a home in the Medway Towns.

The pair were house sitting for friends at an address off Maidstone Road, Rochester, when two men entered the property and threatened them with a knife.

The man was beaten and hit over the head, before he and his wife had their hands tied behind their backs, and their feet tied up.

The robbers then tied their feet and hands together and put pillowcases over their heads.

The terrified couple were pushed onto a bed and a duvet was placed over them while the robbers demanded to know where the jewellery was.

Bedrooms at the property were then ransacked and a large amount of jewellery was put into a washing basket.

The robbers then returned to the bedroom and attacked the man again before stealing his van keys.

The robbers then fled the property in the van before crashing it into railings outside Rochester Grammar School and fleeing the scene.

Three people were later arrested in connection with the incident, which happened during the early hours of Friday, February 16.

Christine Hubbard, a soprano opera singer lives at the address with her husband, Dudley, who is a GP in the Towns.

It is understood the couple were away when the incident happened.

Mrs Hubbard posted the picture of some of the jewellery taken during the raid in the hope of getting it returned to her.

She said: "Our house sitters were held up by two robbers.

"Peter was badly beaten up and asked where the jewellery was, he obviously did not know.

"They hit him again, then put pillowcases over his and his wife's head.

"They tied their wrists together, behind their backs, then their feet, then tied their feet to their hands.

"They stole their mobiles and van, crashing it less than half a mile up the road.

"By this time Peter had managed to wriggle free and rang the police.

"I am asking if anyone is offered expensive jewellery at silly prices. That you either let me know or ring the police."

Jordan Bluer, spokesman for police said: "Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have arrested three people following an aggravated burglary in the Maidstone Road area of Rochester.

"In the early hours of Friday 16 February the suspects are alleged to have entered a home, bound two victims, and demanded jewellery and car keys.

"A 54-year-old woman from Rochester and a 51-year-old man from Gillingham have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed until next Friday, March 16.

"Another man, 59, also from Rochester, was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and bailed until the same date."
