A hairdresser whose new salon was due to open a week after the first lockdown last spring, has kept customers in the picture why they can't have their hair done.

Amanda Linehan commissioned an artist to create a Covid-inspired piece of work which is now displayed outside her business in High Street, Rainham.

The 33-year-old said: "I wanted to remind clients we are all on a journey to get out of this.

"I think it shows positivity. As we can't work inside at the moment, I put it outside."

She hired Whitstable-based painter Sam Giles to come up with the piece which is now on show at Linehan and Co.

The business owner, who lives with husband John in Farnham Close, Rainham, has only been open for trading for five months over the last year.

But after being employed at another hairdresser for 18 years, she has already built up a strong client-base.

She employs a team of five, including a beautician and make-up artist, who have also brought in their regular customers.

She said: "I hope the painting will bring a lot of interest and people can relate to what is happening now and the future when this finally goes away."
