Three men have been detained by immigration officials after an Indian restaurant and takeaway was raided.
Acting on intelligence, the Home Office visited Spice Fusion in Deanwood Drive, Rainham.
Two men from Bangladesh, aged 23 and 34, and a 53-year-old Indian man who had overstayed their visas were arrested.
The men are currently in immigration detention while steps are taken to remove them from the UK.
Following the raid at 5.40pm on Friday, the business was served with a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker arrested may be imposed unless evidence is provided that appropriate right to work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document.
If proof is not provided, this is a potential total of up to £60,000.
