Cyclist hurt in road crash

A cyclist suffered serious head injuries after being involved in an accident in in Chatham.

The accident happened on Chatham Hill, near to the Domino's Pizza outlet, when the cyclist was in collision with a blue BMW car.

Emergency services, including Kent Air Ambulance, were called to the scene on Friday at 3.40pm and the cyclist, who comes from south London, was airlifted to a hospital in the capital.

Police say his condition is currently serious but stable and they would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision involving the car and the bike, which was black and silver.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a Seat Leon car, which was parked nearby.

The road was closed while officers examined the scene and was eventually re-opened at about 7.30pm.
