A dead French bulldog puppy was found wrapped in four black bags.

Animal charity, Animals Lost and Found in Kent, said it got a call from a woman walking her pet in New Hall Farm Lane, Lower Stoke.

The 10-month-old pup, who was called Fred, had been presumed stolen on January 24, according to a microchip.

A spokesman for the charity said: "After speaking with the registered keeper we took the dog to a vet where [they] could meet us and we could file a report in with the police.

"Fred has been presumed stolen/missing since January 24, 2019."

They added, he appeared to be well-fed and had only been dead for about two days. He was found at the side of the road.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 with reference number 1400789.
