A drug dealer involved in the importation of heroin, cocaine and cannabis has been ordered to pay back more than £228,000.

Stephen Hall, 55, formerly of Trafalgar Close in Wouldham, was jailed for 20 years in 2014 for his part in importing Class A and Class B drugs into the county from Europe.

He and nine other men were involved in an organised criminal gang.

Hall, pictured, was ordered to pay back the funds via the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 at Maidstone Crown Court last Monday.

In order to afford the payment, a number of assets were seized including cash, a Rolex watch and a number of cars including a drag racer.

One of the other offenders was also ordered to pay back £100,000.

Officers conducted multiple seizures of drugs leading up to the arrest of Hall.

This included the recovery of 126 kilos of herbal cannabis from Church Close in Cliffe in 2012 and the seizure of Class A drugs from a taxi in London in 2013.

Officers also intercepted a total of 67 kilos of heroin, 13 kilos of cocaine and 75 kilos of cannabis in two incidents in Germany in 2013 and 2014.

Detectives linked the mobile phone messages and calls of Hall and the other offenders to the dates of these key offences.

Investigating officer DC Mark Froome said: “The work of officers doesn’t stop following the conclusion of a criminal case.

“We always try to recoup the proceeds of any criminal activity so they don’t continue to benefit from their illegal dealings once they’ve been released from prison.

“In this case, Hall had a large number of cars seized including a drag racer and a Rolex watch, all bought with ill-gotten money.”
