Death of man near Rochester bridge being treated as suspicious

Police are treating the death of a man found near a town bridge as suspicious.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are appealing for information after the body of a man was found in Rochester.

It comes after police were called to the Rochester side of the High Street bridge at 7.23am today.

The man, who has not been identified, was found with a leg injury and declared dead at the scene.

Enquiries to establish the cause of the death, and the circumstances leading up to it, are ongoing. But detectives are treating the death as suspicious.

They would like to hear from anyone who believes they have information about the man’s death, or anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in the High Street/ Corporation Street area the previous night or during the early hours of this morning.
