Car overturns on the coastbound carriageway of M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham

Traffic stretched back five miles on the M2 after a car ended up on its roof following a collision with another vehicle.

The crash happened on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham.

It is understood the car which overturned was in collision with a mini, which span on the carriageway before coming a halt.

No one was seriously injured in the smash which happened shorty before 6pm.

All lanes have been reopened and traffic has cleared.

It was the second crash on the coastbound carriageway this afternoon.

Earlier a biker suffered a leg injury when his machine was in collision with a car on the same stretch of road.

Steve Knight, spokesman for Kent Police, said officers were called at 5.51pm.

He said: "Officers are at the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"No serious injuries have been reported."
