A kebab shop has been named the best regional takeaway for the third time.
Master Kebabs in Gillingham has won The British Kebab and Retail Awards sponsored by Just Eat.
Manager Ayse Aglamaz said: "It feels amazing. We are proud of what we do and we have worked so hard over the last couple of years. We are getting recognition for our hard work."
The family-run business was open throughout the pandemic serving the community – only shutting for the initial three weeks of lockdown while they made the business Covid-safe.
The Watling Street eatery previously won the award in 2018 and 2019 but was also shortlisted in February 2020.
She continued: "It is a huge achievement.
"I think with the awards, this kind of organisation is changing perceptions of the kebab industry. It is not just a takeaway after a few beers.
"For us, we are really happy that we have totally turned that around. When you order from us you are fine dining."
The takeaway uses secret recipes and marinades developed over more than 30 years by Ayse's dad, Kadir Aydin, and brother Ismail, who owns the eatery which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
The family have previously owned other takeaway shops across the Towns.
This is the ninth year of the kebab awards which aims to shed light on the industry and recognise the cultural and economic contributions various restaurants, suppliers and workers make to the UK.
Master Kebabs are open Monday to Sunday from noon to 11pm and are contactable on its website.
