Firefighters helped rescue a dog after it fell down the side of a cliff.

Crews in five engines spent more than four hours at the scene, after the pooch slid 40m down the cliff off Vicarage Road, in Halling, near Strood.

Emergency services were called at around 4.05pm yesterday and used a drone to locate the dog before being lowered down the cliff to rescue it.

A fire service spokesman said: "The technical rescue team flew a drone over the cliff to locate the dog, cut a path through scrubland towards where the dog was located and line rescue operatives were lowered over the side of the cliff where they were able to rescue the dog who was staggeringly uninjured."

Just over four-and-a-half hours later the team left the scene.

A rope rescue unit, technical rescue unit, water safety unit were all used in the rescue.
