Domino’s wants to open a new store in Medway.
The pizza place has put in an application to open one of its chains in Walderslade Village.
Filling the former HSBC, DPP Planning have submitted proposals to change the use of the building from Class A2 for Financial and Professional Services to use Class A5 for Hot Food Takeaway.
Osian Roberts, principal planner, wrote in the cover letter: “The site is located within an area that occupies a number of commercial uses, therefore the proposed re-use of the ground floor unit which has been vacant for more than 18 months as a Class A5 takeaway, along with a residential unit at first floor level, would contribute positively to the character of the centre.
“The proposed site is located within a sustainable location to serve both uses with it being easily accessible by foot, bus and car.”
The application has only received one objection so far from local resident, Sami Monsur.
He said: “There are already too many restaurants and takeaways in this area. We need something there to educate and interact with the kids.”
Domino’s has been contacted for comment.
