Jodie Mae Scammell finds herself in a strange world when she falls down a rabbit hole in Rainham this evening.
The popular tale of Alice in Wonderland is being brought to life by Ratlets, the youth section of Rainham Theatrical Society.
Jodie takes on the title role of Alice and providing some comedy is the Mad Hatter played by Dan Frank.
Tom Godman plays the White Rabbit and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee are played by Samuel Knight and Joe Giles. The Cheshire cat is played by Kirsty Ellis.
This traditional tale has a modern day twist to it with all the characters brought to life in a lively production full of catchy tunes and colourful costumes designed by Claire Feekings, together with a set created by Kathy West.
The group is run by Grant Flanagan who said: “After the successful performance of Our Day Out in June, I wanted to up our game and I believe we have achieved this.”
Chairwoman Helen Caston added: "The Ratlets are an important part of our theatre, after all they are our future.
"We often have some of the Ratlets in our main senior productions. This year Curtis Armitage, who is playing Humpty Dumpty, has been in Dracula and Blue Remembered Hills so there opportunities are there for the taking.
"It is a great way for the talented young performers to learn new skills and build their confidence."
The group meet every Wednesday night and new members are always welcome.
Plans are already afoot for the next production in June 2016, which is set to be Treasure Island, and young people in school year eight or above are welcome to attend the auditions.
Performances of Alice in Wonderland take place this evening and Saturday. Curtains up at 8pm.
