Chatham driver stopped for phone use ends up arrested for drug possession

A driver initially stopped by police for being on the phone and not wearing a seatbelt ended up arrested for having drugs in his car.
Officers found cocaine and cannabis under the seats after suspecting the man would have drugs with him.
The 38-year-old was stopped by officers on the A2 Watling Street, Gillingham, on Sunday, after being caught using his phone while at the wheel.
When stopped, police saw he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance or a licence, possession of Class A and B drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He has since been released under investigation.
