A gas engineer tailgated an unmarked police car and became aggressive with officers when he was pulled over was found to be more than twice the legal limit.

Luke Beckett was at the wheel of a blue Ford Focus when he got close to the other vehicle as he drove on Blue Bell Hill.

Beckett was stopped by offices and they thought he was intoxicated.

He admitted he'd had a drink but started swearing and shouting at officers and called them *****.

He was arrested and taken to a police station on March 6.

The 24-year-old of Cordelia Crescent, Rochester, was given a urine test and gave a reading of 27milligramsms of alcohol in 100ml of urine, the legal limit is 107.

He was charged with drink-driving and threatening behaviour and admitted the offences when he appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on October 6.

The court heard Beckett, who used to live in Swanley, was on a crown court community order he'd been given for an offence of affray when he committed the latest offences.

District Judge Stephen Leake decided to send Beckett's case to Maidstone Crown Court for him to be sentenced on March 6.

He was banned from driving for two years. A community order he was on was revoked and a new order was imposed for an 18 month period.

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 10 rehabilitation sessions with probation and was also ordered to wear a alcohol abstinence monitoring tag for 90 days and pay £340 costs.
