Detectives investigating the death of Chatham pensioner Harjit Chaggar are trying to trace the drivers and passengers of a number of vehicles they believe could help.

The seven vehicles were captured on CCTV in Magpie Hall Road on September 2, the day the 69-year-old was last seen.

The vehicles would have been travelling from Luton Arches towards Magpie Hall Road between 3.59pm and 4.02pm on that day.

The vehicles are a:
• Toyota Yaris 2006 – 2011
• Ford C-Max Mk1 (Pre-Facelift and marketed as Focus C-Max) 2003 – 200
• Volkswagen Golf Hatchback Mk 4 1997 – 2004
• Citroen C2 (Pre-facelift) 2003-2008 (Design of wheel trim shows model is most likely to be a VTS which dates 2004 – 2008)
• Ford Fiesta Mk4 (Pre-Facelift) 1995 – 1999
• Nissan Kubistar 2003 – 2008
• Vauxhall Astra Van 1998 – 2006

Senior Investigating Officer DS Rob Vinson said: "We have had an excellent response to our witness appeal so far and I am now keen to trace the drivers of these vehicles captured on CCTV. They may have seen something important to the investigation and I urge them to come forward."

Mrs Chaggar’s body was found in the basement of the Sani Globe food store in Luton Road, Chatham, on Saturday, September 14.

Three people who work at the shop have been charged with her murder and have been remanded in custody.

They are: Abdul Hannan, 44, of Aldon Close, Maidstone; Murshed Miah, 38, of Wheeler Street, Maidstone and Mohammad Islam, 28, of Windmill Road, Gillingham.

The trio are expected to enter pleas to the charges on December 5. A provisional trial date has been set for March 17.

A 27-year-old man from Chatham who was also arrested has been bailed until Monday, November 18.

The shop has remained closed with its shutters down since Mrs Chaggar’s body was discovered there.

The publication of the latest images follows a successful appeal asking a number of people seen on CCTV on that day in Magpie Hall Road to come forward. Every one of those witnesses has now been identified.
