A drug dealer who travelled from London to Medway to sell cocaine and heroin has been jailed for three years.

It was the second time Dwain Heywood had been sent to prison for possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Prosecutor Ian Foinette said the 31-year-old father was stopped in a car in Jeffery Street, Gillingham, on April 5 and cash was found in his pocket.

When taken to the police station to be strip searched officers saw there was something protruding from his buttocks.

Heywood tried to push it in further and it was decided to call a doctor to remove it.

But he did so himself and it was found to contain 10 wraps of cocaine and four of heroin.

He admitted was selling them for £15 for two to pay a drugs debt of £1,000.

“He said he went out with 30 wraps that day and had sold 16,” Mr Foinette told Maidstone Crown Court.

Heywood, who admitted the latest offence, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in 2007 for dealing.

Shahid Rashid, defending, said Heywood resorted to drug dealing again after his driving licence did not arrive so that he could take up a driving job.

Mr Rashid submitted it was low level dealing and a “perfunctory role” to get out of debt.

“It seems he would benefit from outside help,” he said. “What is required is a short, sharp shock.”

Recorder Gordon Wood said Heywood, of Chinbrook Road, Grove Park, south east London, put himself under pressure by incurring the debt.

“The fact you have committed a serious offence again cannot be overlooked,” he added.
