A man was caught dealing drugs after police spotted him loitering outside public toilets.
Samuel Campbell, of no fixed address, has now been jailed for more than two years after a patrolling officer spotted a suspicious incident.
The 21-year-old was seen talking to a man in Sappers Walk, Gillingham on the afternoon of Friday, September 10. A short time later he was seen talking to two more men outside the toilets.
During the conversation the officer believed he had witnessed a drug deal take place after seeing the men appear to exchange something between their hands.
Campbell was then stopped by another officer and he was searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. He was found to be in possession of three mobile phones and cash.
He was then arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs and taken to Medway Police Station where a further search revealed he was concealing 40 individually prepared wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.
Investigating officer PC Michael Williams said: "Campbell’s jail term is a direct result of the intuition of the officer on patrol who believed Campbell was behaving suspiciously.
"If Campbell had not been stopped and searched, I have no doubt he would have carried on profiteering by selling drugs to vulnerable drug users across Medway and beyond."
He was charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
As part of the investigation, officers found text messages on phones seized from Campbell which alluded to drug deals.
The investigation also found that the wraps found on Campbell were estimated to have a street value of between £500 and £1,000.
He admitted the charges at Maidstone Crown Court and was jailed for two years and four months on November 5.
