Eastgate House event
08:46, 16 January 2012
If you made a resolution to get more involved in your community, pop along to a meeting at Eastgate House in Rochester.
The historic building was awarded a development grant of up to £80,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
It is hoped the cash will restore and transform the building into an exhibition gallery and community space where all kinds of events can be held.
Heritage Lottery Fund representatives have been working alongside Medway Council during the first phase of development work, which includes creating a Friends group in support of the project.
The first Friends of Eastgate House meeting will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7.30pm, doors open at 7pm.
Anyone interested in getting involved can go along, find out what the project is all about, and help to shape the way the building is used in the future.
There will also be a chance to look around the house and see the 16th century interiors which are so often closed.
Anyone is welcome to attend and there is no need to book in advance, for more information email eastgate.house@medway.gov.uk, or call Tracy Stringfellow on 01634 338110.
