Police also attended to assist with traffic management.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers attended to assist Kent Fire and Rescue Service. One person has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution.”

By 11.20am two fire engines remained at the scene and crews were rolling up hoses. They left around 20 minutes later.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, told KentOnline they had been woken up by the sirens.

They said: “I looked out of the front window and saw the fire engines and ambulance and firefighters on my drive.

“I have never seen anything like it here before. It’s normally really quiet.

“I think it was a kitchen fire.”

Another, who also did not want to be named, said they heard a “loud pop” before the emergency services arrived at the scene.
