Medway man extradited from Australia for alleged historic child sex offences pleads not guilty

A former Kent man who was extradited from Australia accused of child sex offences will face trial next year.

Painter and decorator Leonard Sheldon was returned from to the UK from Perth last month after allegedly sexually assaulting two children more than 40 years ago.

The 64-year-old pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, which are alleged to have happened in Rochester dating back to April 1977, at Maidstone Crown Court earlier today.

Judge Philip St John-Steven granted Sheldon bail until the trial, which is expected to begin on Monday, September 21, at the same court.

He is now living at a hotel in Chatham Maritime.
