A family of six escaped injury after fleeing a blaze in Rainham, last night.
Crews were called to reports of a bedroom fire in Mierscourt Road just before 8.40pm, and spent two hours bringing the blaze under control.
Medway watch manager Jim Ramsden said six people had fled the terraced house by the time firefighters were on the scene, and would probably need to be temporarily rehomed.
The fire caused severe damage to the first floor, while the rest of the property was damaged by water used in fighting the blaze. Neighbouring properties were also damaged by smoke.
