Gills player Josh Wright was among the many mourners at the funeral of his beloved grandmother, known as Nanny Pat.
The 26-year-old midfielder joined other members of his close-knit family to pay his final respects to Patricia Brooker, who won the hearts of the nation on the reality show TOWIE.
The League One player tweeted 'RIP Nanny love you forever' and 'Gutted is an understatement'.
Wright also expressed his remorse immediately after her death was announced on December 16 following a short illness.
He tweeted: "A truly inspirational wonderful kind hearted superwoman, a humongous loss to myself and family, You simply were the best nan, love you always and forever RIP Nanny'.
At the Gills next home game against Millwall abuse was hurled at Wright and he had to be held back by team-mate Bradley Dack.
Gills boss Justin Edinburgh hit out the "disgusting" comments directed towards him, saying: "I would be embarrassed if they were friends of familyof mine."
Josh Wright's brother, Mark, also a star of the ITV programme, tweeted: "Football is football and hating the opposing players is all part of it. The few fans chanting disgusting stuff RE our Nan is so low but the Gillingham fans singing 'there's only one Josh Wright at 3-0 up puts a smile right back on our faces."
Mark Wright was supported by his wife, Michelle Keegan, an ex-Coronation Street actress, at the funeral in Upminster, Essex, on Friday.
