Firefighters called to Snodhurst Avenue, Chatham following bungalow fire

A bungalow was evacuated because it caught fire after drying clothes were placed too close to an electric heater.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in the back bedroom of a property in Snodhurst Avenue, Chatham, at around 7.30pm last night.

Crews tackled the fire for 30 minutes using a hose reel jet, breathing apparatus and a large ventilation fan.

People inside were safely lead away. There were no injuries.

Red Cross Volunteers also attended the property to offer any welfare support.

The fire service has urged people drying clothes to be vigilant and find a safer alternative.
