Fire crews called to Gillingham Road, Gillingham, for a chimney fire last night

Firefighters were called out to a fire in a chimney last night.

The owners of a home in Gillingham Road, Gillingham, had not had their chimney properly swept in some time.

A fire in the hearth caught on the residue on the insides of the chimney.

One pump from Medway was called at 11pm last night and the crew took 40 minutes to put out the blaze and clear the smoke.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
