Fire crews battled a rooftop fire in a residential street this afternoon.
Four engines and a height vehicle were at a property in Weston Road, Strood, after a fire broke out in the roof space.
No one was injured during the incident and it is understood some pets were saved from inside the home.
The Kent Fire and Rescue Service was advising people travelling in the area to avoid the road where possible while crews dealt with the incident.
An employee at Bryant Road Fish Bar, said: "There are a couple of fire engines out there. Two engines are blocking the road and there is one of those red, rescue cars.
"I do not know what but there is something happening. I saw smoke coming out of the house."
