It is understood the two storey building has been converted into two flats.
It is not known at this stage how the fire broke out but the cause of it is being investigated and initially it was reported someone was trapped inside.
However, after firefighters arrived on the scene, they managed to confirm there was no one in the house at the time.
They then spent about an hour fighting the flames.
The Red Cross support unit was also at the scene helping the man who lived there after he came back to the property while fire crews were still at the scene.
Police were also called to the scene.
Safa Chraihi was on her way to work and managed to shoot this video before fire crews arrived.
She said: “There were neighbours shouting to the people inside that the fire crews were on their way.
“It did look really bad but I am glad everyone is OK.”
