The British Red Cross attended a fire in Rochester in the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to reports of a blaze in the bedroom of a ground floor flat in Stirling Close at 4.04am.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze and then cleared smoke and fumes from the premises.
The alarm was raised when a neighbour returning home spotted the fire and alerted the residents.
No one was injured in the fire and it is thought to be accidental.
Crews stood down just before 5am.
