A fire has broken out at a kebab shop in Walderslade Road, in Chatham
Residents reported hearing fire engines heading up King George Road towards Hook Meadow park in Chatham just after 1.30pm.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a fire at a takeaway shop in Walderslade Road, Chatham.
“Three fire engines and a height vehicle were called to reports of a fire at a takeaway shop in Walderslade Road, Chatham.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus worked to extinguish a fire in the roof space.
“One person inhaled smoke during the incident and another person sustained burns to their hands and foot. Both people were passed into the care of SECAmb.”
Two fire engines remain at the scene while firefighters dampen any remaining hot spots.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, but is believed is accidental.
The road has been closed off and traffic is being diverted.
