Medway fly-tipper hit with over £3000 in fines

A fly-tipping man has been fine over £3000 after pleading guilty to two waste-dumping charges and two counts of transporting controlled waste without registration.

Dan Abraham, of Mill Road, Gillingham, dumped rubbish in Grange Road in Lower Twydall, and Formby Road, Halling and was tried at Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday, December 18.

The 30-year-old was fined £1,500 for fly-tipping and a further £500 for the transporting charge.

Abraham was also ordered to pay costs of £1038.52, and £200 compensation to the landowners.

Cllr Jane Chitty, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder covering enforcement, said: “This man has been ordered to pay thousands of pounds after he was caught dumping rubbish in Medway.

"Fly-tipping is unpleasant and causes distress for residents. It is unacceptable and Medway Council is committed to investigating fly-tipping incidents and anyone found to be dumping rubbish in Medway will be prosecuted.”
