Gillingham supporter charged after alleged racist gesture during game at Priestfield Stadium

A football fan has been charged after allegedly making racist gestures towards a player.
Benjamin Burchell was arrested at Priestfield Stadium in Gillingham on Saturday, October 28.
The alleged offence happened after Newport County’s Omar Bogle scored from the penalty spot during the club’s League Two match.
The 28-year-old was released on bail pending further enquiries by the Medway Victim Based Crime Team.
He has now been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence.
Burchell, of College Avenue, Gillingham, is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 28.
