Four car collision closes M2 at Gillingham for several hours as emergency services deal with the incident

The motorway at Gillingham was closed for more than two hours late last night after a four car collision on the coast-bound carriageway.
The emergency services were called out to deal with the smash at about 11.35pm close to junction 4 for Gillingham after the carriageway became blocked.
It is understood no one suffered any serious injury during the smash, but the road was not fully re-opened until about 2am.
A spokesman for police said: “Kent Police was called to a collision close to junction 4 of the M2 coast-bound at 11.35pm.
“In total, four cars are reported to have been involved and part of the motorway was blocked as a result.
“To ensure public safety a road closure was enforced and this had been lifted by 1.50am.
“The South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and no serious injuries were reported.”
