Four men have been charged after quantities of cash, cigarettes and alcohol were stolen in burglaries at commercial premises in Kent and Sussex.

Six businesses are said to have been targeted in Gillingham, Gravesend and Sussex, between December last year and January 4.

During the incidents four of the businesses were broken into and cash, cigarettes and alcohol were reported to have been stolen.

Two further businesses were targeted but the suspects were unable to get inside.

Following inquiries officers arrested three men on Wednesday January 5 and a fourth man the following day.

The four men charged in connection with the incidents are:

• Hawbash Hassan, 27, of Corporation Road, Chatham, who has been charged with four counts of burglary and two charges of attempted burglary.

• Sami Kamali, 21 of Kent Road, Gravesend, who has been charged with burglary.

• Ahamed Ghafori, 21, of Milton Road, Gravesend, who has been charged with two counts of burglary and one attempted burglary.

• Serwer Khalid, 18, of Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, who has been charged with four counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.

The four men appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday January 7, and are due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday February 4.

Hassan was remanded in custody, while the three other men were bailed with conditions.
