Motorists were shocked to see a fox riding on the roof of a van as it drove along a motorway.

Mithul Santhosh was driving a friend to work at 6.50am yesterday when they spotted the unusual sight of the animal atop the vehicle on the M2 near Bredhurst.

He said: "The driver was informed by another driver, and he stopped and rescued the fox.

"We watched it for two or three minutes, we were worried because if it had jumped into the road there could have been an accident."

Mr Santhosh, who is from Gillingham, says the van pulled to the side of the road and the fox was taken down from the roof.
