Medway boxer Tom Dallas could still fight in Kent following news that the eagerly-anticipated Men of Kent show in Lordswood could be back on.

Organiser Mark Roe is in talks with Medway Council, Lordswood Football Club and other parties over plans to stage the outdoor show on Saturday, August 28.

Mr Roe's plans for the event on July 10 were scuppered after problems with licensing. He is now working with the council to find a speedy solution.

Undefeated Chatham heavyweight Dallas, pictured, will top the bill, alongside a host of fellow Kent professionals, which is expected to attract around 1,500 fight fans.

"Providing everything falls into place, the show will go ahead," said Mr Roe, who is Dallas’ manager.

"I’ve spoken to the licensing department and they are going to set up a meeting. They want to help and I’ve said, ‘just tell me what I need to do and we’ll comply’."

August 28 is FA Cup preliminary round weekend so no league fixture will be scheduled at Lordswood’s Martin Grove venue. The date would definitely be free if the club are eliminated in the extra preliminary round or if they get an away draw that weekend. The draw will be known in early July.

Meanwhile, Dallas is hoping to make it 11 wins out of 11 on Friday in Brentwood against Russian Daniil Peretyatko.
