Repairs to a gas main are set to last almost two weeks after a leak this morning.

Motorists heading out of the Medway Towns faced delays on Formby Road, Halling following the incident.

Engineers from SGN closed one lane and put temporary traffic lights in place to ensure the safety of passers-by.

Hannah Brett from SGN said: "We’re working to repair our gas main in Formby Road, Halling. To ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians around our work area, we’ve installed temporary traffic lights in the A228 Formby Road near St Andrews Park.

"All being well, we hope to finish our repair and remove our temporary traffic lights by the end of next week. In the meantime, we’ll continue to manually control the traffic lights at peak times to help traffic flow along the A228.

"We thank motorists for their patience as we carry out this essential repair to our gas main."

These are both due to finish tomorrow.
