Rainham's Gerard Greene launches his latest attempt to land an elusive Crucible win when he attempts to qualify for the World Championships next week.
The 37-year-old - who turned professional 17 years ago - faces a qualification match on Tuesday at the English Institute of Sport, just miles from the the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
Greene (pictured) has so far appeared on the world’s biggest stage four times, but has failed to win any of his first round matches.
Last year he overcame former champion Ken Doherty in the final qualifying round before being edged out 10-5 by world number seven Ali Carter in the first round proper.
It was, however, still a performance which moved him back into the world’s top 32 for this season.
