Gillingham boxer Tom Dallas to make a step up in class
08:00, 20 November 2009
St Mary's professional heavyweight Tom Dallas is set to face Carl Baker as he takes another step up in class.
Dallas (pictured), who stands at 6ft 6in, has won all seven of his bouts so far and will face Baker in Newport, Wales on December 11.
Baker recently contested the much publicised prize-fighter contest where he beat Danny Williams.
Dallas, 24, from Gillingham, was recently helping David Haye ahead of his successful WBA world title bout against Russian Nikolay Valuev.
Trainer Andy Kidd said: "David Haye wanted to fight someone big so we travelled to his own gym in Vauxhall, London. Tom only ended up having two rounds against him and throwing four punches because all David Haye did was go backwards like he did against Valuev in the fight.
"He only hit Tom about four times but at least he can say he’s been in the ring with a world champion."
