Jamie, from Gillingham, a former MidKent College and Brompton Academy student, sang Kings of Leon’s Sex on Fire, on the show.

This weekend's performances saw each judge reduce their teams from seven down to three.

Kylie Minogue, Jamie's mentor picked him to be one of her three finalists.

She chose him after both Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones, said they thought she should put him through.

Miss Minogue picked Lee Glasson for her first choice and when asked who her second act would be, she said: “Someone who has been consistent, really consistent.

“Someone who can really deliver and I don’t have an ounce of worry - Jamie.”

Jamie has forged a friendship with Miss Minogue who has drafted in Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears to assist her during the series.

Speaking to KentOnline before the show, Jamie said: “We were told to choose a killer song.

“It’s a big song and was very scary."

Now he has got through to the ‘lives’ he has moved in with fellow contestants to a secret location in London.

He added: “I have been very busy doing gigs all over the place, but I have given that all up to focus on this.”

“I have been singing since I was three. This means everything to me.”

Jamie also revealed his mum Sharla, a district nurse, gets recognised around Medway more than him since he began appearing on the show.
