Charity footie match in memory of Gillingham fan Janet Aluwalia
14:03, 01 August 2013
A football match and fun day is being held in memory of an avid Gills fan.
Janet Aluwalia’s family hold the event every year at Star Meadow Sports and Social Club in Gillingham.
Janet, a Gills’ season ticket holder, who was also involved with local football, died of breast cancer in 2009 aged 54.
Since her death, Janet’s family and friends have been raising money for cancer charities and have collected thousands of pounds. This will be the fourth fun day they have held in Janet’s memory.
It runs from 1pm on Sunday and includes a match between Janet’s family and Burnt Oak FC, as well as a barbecue, bouncy castle, cake staff, raffle, DJ and bar. Entry free.
