A gun was seized and five men arrested after a huge police operation last night.
From around 10pm a police helicopter was spotted circling Rochester.
Specialist officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) were sent to the scene.
A spokesman said: “Officers from the NCA’s armed operations unit were deployed overnight.
“Searches resulted in the recovery of a firearm, and five men were arrested and taken into custody.
“We do not currently assess there to be any increased risk to members of the public.”
The organisation is investigating the incident and is unable to give further details at this time.
A spokesman told KentOnline, NCA investigated this, rather than Kent Police, as it leads the UK response to serious and organised crime.
It often runs investigations, as well as working jointly with forces, in any part of the country.
